FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is it possible to privatize the terrace of the Jardin Nelson in whole or in part for an event?
Unfortunately, it is impossible to privatize part or all of the Jardin Nelson terrace for an event.
Can I bring a cake or a dessert on the terrace of the Jardin Nelson?
Our house policy does not allow you to bring a cake or any other dessert to the terrace. However, to mark a birthday, at your request, it is with pleasure that we will add a Bengal fire on the dessert ordered. We suggest that you inform your server as soon as you arrive.
Can we organize a 5 @ 7 for a small group?
No, unfortunately it is not possible to hold a 5 @ 7 on the terrace of Jardin Nelson.
How long do I have to wait before I have a table on the terrace?
We’re sorry for the delay, our team is doing everything it can to accommodate as many customers as possible.
Generally, for the lunch service, we recommend that our customers arrive when our doors open (11:30 AM). For the evening service, we recommend that you arrive before 5:45 PM or after 9 PM.
Many factors over which we unfortunately have no control can have an effect on the waiting time. Indeed, the weather and the many events that take place in Old Montreal and in the Old Port hold many surprises! Because of this, it is sometimes difficult to provide a specific time frame. Unfortunately, waiting time estimates can be as unreliable as weather forecasts.
Where can I park to go to Jardin Nelson?
First, we suggest that our customers park on the outskirts of Old Montreal. In addition, we are located just a few steps away from the Champ-de-Mars metro station, on the orange line.

During L’International des Feux Loto-Québec and Canada Day, access to Old Montreal may be limited.
Why don't you take any group or wedding reservations?
Here are some of the reasons why we do not accept group or wedding reservations on our terrace:
We have an extraordinary and loyal clientele and at no time would we want to privatize part of our terrace.
In the event of rain or bad weather, it would not be possible to transfer and accommodate a group of that size inside.
We have a multi-level terrace that is not suitable for large groups.
We offer a live jazz music show much appreciated by our clientele and don’t want interruptions.
Thank you again for your interest in our establishment. We hope that you will find a perfect place for a memorable day.
Is the restaurant open during the winter season?
The restaurant is closed for the winter season. Jardin Nelson closes usually for the season, depending on the weather, in early October. It normally opens, weather permitting, in April. Dates are announced a few weeks in advance.
Is it possible to make a reservation?
No, we do not take reservations. Service is therefore on a “first come, first served” basis, for both lunch and dinner.
We look forward to welcoming you on the most beautiful terrace in Old Montreal!
