Frequently asked questions

All the answers to your questions about the Jardin Nelson’s policies.

The Jardin Nelson’s management team offers you the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS section. The administrators of the Old Montreal terrace want to answer all your questions with as much detail as possible.

Being a seasonal and historic establishment, it is not always possible for the Jardin Nelson to respond to the different requests of its customers.

Frequently asked questions

Is it possible to privatize the terrace of the Jardin Nelson in whole or in part for an event?
Unfortunately, it is impossible to privatize part or all of the Jardin Nelson’s terrace for an event.
Can I bring a cake or a dessert on the terrace of the Jardin Nelson?
Our house policy does not allow you to bring a cake or any other dessert to the terrace. However, to mark a birthday, at your request, it is with pleasure that we will add a Bengal fire on the dessert ordered.

We suggest that you inform your server as soon as you arrive.

Can we organize a 5 @ 7 for a small group?
No, unfortunately it is not possible to hold a 5 @ 7 on the terrace of the Jardin Nelson. However, our Cartier room may be suitable for this type of activity.
How long do I have to wait before I have a table on the terrace?
We’re sorry for the delay, our team is doing everything possible to accommodate as many customers as possible.

Generally for the lunch service we suggest that our customers be here when our doors open, around 11:30 a.m. on weekdays, and around 11 a.m. on weekends. For the evening service we suggest that you arrive before 5.45 p.m. or after 9 p.m.

Many factors over which unfortunately we have no control affect the waiting time. Indeed, the temperature and the many events that take place in Old Montreal as well as in the Old Port have many surprises in store for us! For these reasons it is sometimes difficult to give a very specific time frame.

Where can I park to go to Jardin Nelson?
First, we suggest that our customers park on the outskirts of Old Montreal. In addition, we are located a few steps away from the Champ-de-Mars metro station, the orange line.

Here is a link that will allow you to view the parking lots nearby the Jardin Nelson: Map of parking lots

During L’International des Feux Loto-Québec 2020 and Canada Day, access to Old Montreal may be a bit limited.

Why don't you take any group or wedding reservations?
Regarding your request, here are some of the reasons why we do not accept groups or wedding reservations on our terrace:

We have an extraordinary and loyal clientele and at no time would we want to privatize a section of our terrace.

In the event of rain or bad weather, it would not be possible to transfer and accommodate a group of this size inside.

We have a multi-level terrace that is not suitable for large groups.

It is only possible to make reservations for lunch from Monday to Friday (10 people max.). We don’t take any reservations in the evening and on weekends.

We do have a private indoor dining room for events, but unfortunately it can only accommodate up to 45 guests.

We offer a live jazz music show much appreciated by our clientele and don’t want interruptions.

Thank you again for your interest in our establishment. We hope you will find a perfect place for a memorable day.

Is the restaurant open during the winter season?
The restaurant is closed for the winter season.

We will be back mid-April 2020, weather permitting.
Thank you for your interest in Jardin Nelson.
We will answer your email as soon as possible.
We will start taking reservations at the beginning of May.
